WHAT'S NEXT

February 6th, 2013 at 02:50 pm

So my husband is doing better. He gets up everyday and goes to work. I on the other hand am feeling lousy that I am not contributing to the fund of getting old. We have gone through what we have and is it enough, who know's? At this point I have registered with five temp agencies and am not getting anything. Just a little depressed. Sometimes I think they advertise jobs they don't have. I wonder if that is illegal? False advertisement! Oh well it is what it is. I am on a tight budget and am watching every penny. I have got a lot of occured debt and have a about a year to get it paid off. Wish me luck!

I don't know what your employment history is but have you tried to substitute in your local school system. There are many opportunities there from classroom teachers, aides, custodians, nutrition service workers, etc. My daughter did this until she found a job and it also looks good on a resume so that you don't have a huge gap in employment. It shows you are willing to work. Also think of volunteering. It will give you a purpose and may in the long run result in a job as well. Find something you love to do and go help someone else. Wishing you the best.

It is hard to keep your chin up sometimes, isn't it? I know how difficult it is to find a job. In my case, I've been home for 16 years (?!) raising my family. I do a lot of volunteer work with the Scouts and my parish's youth summer programs, and because of my work with the church, our tuition is discounted deeply. But I'm still looking for something part-time and there isn't anything really to be found in the hours I'm looking to work. So I figure it is my job to manage the money that we do have to the best of my ability; so I'm doing fairly successfully at keeping the grocery spending down, keeping the driving to a minimum, and the utility bills down.

On the good side, it sounds like your DH is doing well.
